It was a positive end to a season that ebbed and flowed. The Gauteng Women ended up finishing 2nd in both the Women’s National 50 over and T20 leagues respectively.
That elusive trophy still sits just out of our reach. Our form suggests that our time to shine will come soon. Five Gauteng players have been rewarded for top efforts throughout the season by being included in the South African Women’s squad of 22 players that will compete in the upcoming home quadrangular series against India, Zimbabwe and Ireland. The players are Nonkululeko Thabethe, Raisibe Ntozakhe, Shabnim Ismail, Trisha Chetty and Yolani Fourie.
Shabnim Ismail was rewarded with Bowler of Women’s Week with her impressive 14 wickets including 2 five fors.
