Parsons hits tons at U17 Week
Another stellar performance by Bryce Parsons trumped that of Ruan Terblanche as Gauteng edged out Boland by 14 runs in the highly-anticipated Day Four clash at the Momentum Under-17 Week in East London on Saturday.
The pair have been two of the stars all week and both hit centuries at Selborne A on the penultimate day of competition, when 50-over matches were contested.
Parsons, who also played a key role with the ball, first made 107 to help Gauteng post 204/8, with Terblanche then striking 105 as Boland replied with 190/4. The former also took 2/24 with the ball to give his side an impressive win. Other telling contributors for the losing side came through Akeem Minnaar’s 53 and 3/32 by Anele Matya.

Elsewhere, half centuries by Ximus du Plooy (85) Kofi Essel-Mensah (56) and Tristan Janse van Rensburg (56) helped Northerns overcome Eastern Province by a slender 15-run margin.
The inland side first amassed 259/7, before Albert Wells took 3/40 to help restrict the opposition to 244/8.
KwaZulu-Natal also won again after 3/22 by Samkelo Gasa helped them win another of the big games on the day against Western Province by 37 runs.
Batting first, KZN posted 222/9 thanks to Jandre Viljoen (69*), with Guy Sheena bagging 4/35. However, led by Gasa, WP were shot out for 185.
