Gauteng Women’s triumph to double victory over Free State Women’s
Gauteng Women’s cricket had a good showing this past weekend. Firstly in the limited 50 over game on Saturday at the Mangaung Oval in Free State, spearheaded by Proteas seamer Shabnim Ismail who had figures of 3/29 and Yolani Fourie’s 2/19, bowled out Free State for 108 in 48 overs.
Before making light work of the run chase. Reaching the target in 26 overs thanks to Trisha Chetty’s 68 runs guiding the team to a 6 wicket victory
It was an all-round magnificent weekend for the team as they followed up their Saturday performance with an even more dominant display in the T20 match on Sunday.
The toss won by Gauteng Women who decided to bowl first. They restricted the Free State Women’s team to 62/6 in the 20 overs. Yolani Fourie had figures of 2/10 and Raisibe Ntozakhe figures of 1/8 in her 4 over spell.
Trisha Chetty once again contributed to the run chase as she scored 34 runs as Gauteng Women reached the target in 14.3 overs (63/3) winning by 7 wickets
Under guidance of the coach Mr Johnson Mafa the Gauteng Women’s cricket team comprises of 5 national team representatives namely: Yolani Fourie, Ayabonga Khaka, Trisha Chetty, Nonkhululeko Thabethe and Shabnim Ismail.
