The Gauteng Cricket Board congratulates Jeppe Cricket Club on being crowned inaugural champions after their 56-run victory over Burma Lads CC at Sinovich park on Sunday and receiving a much needed R50 000 cheque for their efforts as a result of this.
As the bizhub Highveld Lions representatives in this club competition, the Gauteng Cricket Board is incredibly proud of this phenomenal achievement.
Said Board President, Jack Madiseng: “The Gauteng Cricket Board has a rich history of a passionate and innovative club community. Having Jeppe Cricket Club represent the GCB and the bizhub Highveld Lions in this spectacular fashion creates not only context as to why club cricket remains important but also serves as an incredible motivator to the other clubs that participate in the various leagues across the country.”
“A special congratulations to Gareth Olivier for being named Player of the Tournament.”
Chief Executive, Greg Fredericks, echoed these sentiments. “We are growing increasingly conscious of the many challenges that clubs face, many of them relating to funding challenges. This initiative does not only encourage clubs to ensure that they play quality and competitive cricket but will also give Jeppe Cricket Club a competitive advantage when they prepare for the coming season. We remain appreciative and grateful of corporate organisations like Multiply and Momentum who are willing so support the heart of our cricket pipeline.”
“I would also like to thank Cricket South Africa for this initiative. This supports the importance of the club structure and I look forward to the growth within this competition.”
