An impressive century by Matthew Dewar for the Warriors put an end to the Hollywoodbets Dolphins’ unbeaten streak on the final day of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Franchise Cubs Week in Stellenbosch on Monday. Despite suffering their first loss, the young Dolphins finish the tournament as the best side with four wins in five matches.
Dewar racked up ten boundaries on his way to his a fine 110 off 139 deliveries. The top order batsman added his first century of the competition to go along with his two fifties as he featured in a 142-run, third-wicket stand with Tristan Stubbs (68) to guide the Eastern Cape side to 248/6 in their 50 overs.
The Dolphins reply got off to a solid start thanks to captain Matthew Montgomery (44) and Caleb Pillay (35) who shared a 76-run, second-wicket stand. They however, lost their last seven wickets for just 68 runs and found themselves bundled out for 172 in 42.2 overs, going down by 75 runs with Warriors’ Nonelela Yikha finishing the clash with figures of 3/29.

ended the Week on a high with a clinical 40-run win over the Multiply Titans, who failed to win a match this year.
The Cape Cobras posted a competitive 209/9 in their 50 overs as Justin Broad top-scored with a patient, 78-ball 59 (6x4s) before Titans’ Juandre Scheepers (2/33), Ethan Wentzel (2/35) and Dian Forrester (2/39) helped wrap up the innings.

The VKB Knights ensured they will head back home with a positive record following a convincing, five-wicket defeat over the bizhub Highveld Lions, ending the tournament with three victories out of five. Having lost the toss, a roaring start with the ball inspired the Knights to a dominant display. Gerald Coetzee (3/15) and Ruan Cronje (2/29) led the charge, skittling the Lions for 124 in 43.4 overs.
The chase was more straightforward for the side from Bloemfontein, with Garnet Tarr’s 35 off 43 balls (4x4s, 1x6s) enough to help them clinch the result.
