About Us

The Youth programme’s aim is to equip staff and coaches with the skills necessary to produce highly competitive teams and players. Young players are given the opportunity to improve their skills and quality of life. In light of the above Gauteng Cricket has appointed 21 cricket coaches and administrators on a contract basis to coach in schools and cricket clubs in the following development areas: Soweto (4), Lenasia (3), Kagiso (3), Central (2), Eldorado Park (2), Vaal (3), Alexandra (2), Toekomsrus (1) and Dobsonville (1)

The Youth programme, in conjunction with the United Cricket Board of South Africa and selected schools is able to offer bursaries to young talented players. Presently there are eight learners in the programme at the following schools: Queens High, KES, Parktown Boys, Randburg Hoer, St Johns and St Davids.

Valuable material and financial support from the Gauteng Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture has made it possible for our province to run high performance provincial cricket academies. Winter academies offer young talented cricketers an opportunity to be introduced to the latest scientific and technological sports techniques to help propel individual and team performances to a higher level.
